From the desk of Laurel Ann Nattress:
Happy Monday Dear Readers,
Coming your way tomorrow is a gorgeous new curated edition of Jane Austen’s final novel, Persuasion. It includes the complete unabridged text and thirteen pockets throughout containing replicas of items from the story such as maps, pages from newspapers, and recreated correspondence written as if you were picking up the very letter addressed to one of the characters in Austen’s novel. Wow. Just wow! The full title is a mouthful, but here it is: Persuasion: The Complete Novel, Featuring the Characters’ Letters and Papers, Written and Folded by Hand.
I fell in love with curator Barbara Heller’s first book in this series, Pride and Prejudice published in 2020. She has continued the series with Little Women in 2021, and now gives us a third classic to cherish, Persuasion.
The highlight of paging through this glorious new edition was coming to the most romantic letter ever written contained in the novel—Captain Wentworth’s love letter to Anne Elliot. To see the words “you pierce my soul” replicated in calligraphy was swoon worthy.
I never thought that I could enjoy the novels of Jane Austen or Louisa May Alcott beyond the written words on the page. These curated editions take reading to another level of enjoyment. They are the perfect gift for yourself, family, and friends this holiday season. And for the collector of classics, they look absolutely stunning lined up together on my bookshelf.
The book really sells itself, so I am including a slideshow of images from publisher from the interior. Enjoy!

I enjoyed the epistolary version of “Prejudice & Prejudice” (even if it took some doing to figure out how to get the letters back into their sleeves). I have a birthday coming up…

I’ve just watched the movie and in no way could a movie capture the true essence of the novel.
