From the desk of Laurel Ann Nattress:
We are heading into the busiest book publishing months of the year in preparation for the holidays. Adding to my growing list of Jane Austen-inspired novels is, In Want of a Suspect, the first book in a new young adult duology releasing on November 12th by bestselling author Tirzah Price.
Readers will be familiar with Price’s previous Austenesque novels, Pride and Premeditation, Sense and Second-Degree Murder, and Manslaughter Park. They all have an intriguing premise; reimagine Jane Austen’s world, characters, and romances “in a thrilling and high-stakes whodunit.” The new Lizzie and Darcy mystery series is a spin-off of the characters that Price previously developed, so readers will be thrilled to be back in their lives.
Have you read any of Price’s Austenesque novels? If so, please share your thoughts in the comments, and be sure to add this to your must read list.
I am very excited to read In Want of a Suspect. Here is more information:
BOOK DESCRIPTION
The first book in a thrilling mystery duology that follows Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy from the acclaimed Jane Austen Murder Mystery series!
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that London’s first female solicitor in possession of the details of a deadly crime, must be in want of a suspect.
The tenacious Lizzie Bennet has earned her place at Longbourn, her father’s law firm. Her work keeps her busy, but luckily it gives her plenty of reasons to consult (and steal occasional kisses) with Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, a stern but secretly softhearted solicitor at Pemberley.
Lizzie is hired to investigate a deadly warehouse fire and to find the mysterious woman who was spotted at the scene moments before the flames took hold. But when the case leads to the sitting room of a woman Darcy once proposed marriage to, the delicate balance between personal and professional in their relationship is threatened.
Questions of the future are cast aside when the prime suspect is murdered and Lizzie’s own life is threatened. As the body count rises and their suspicions about what was really going on in the warehouse grow, the pressure is on for Lizzie and Darcy to uncover the truth.
Classic characters with an enthralling twist—Lizzie and Darcy, as introduced in the hit novel Pride and Premeditation, are back for more suspense, danger, and romance!
ADVANCE PRAISE
- In Want of a Suspect is fast paced and seamlessly blends the conflict and romance you want from Darcy and Lizzie with an intriguing mystery that delves into complicated subjects like immigration, war, feminism and how to live under the burden of familial expectations. It’s also finally rewarding to experience the internal Darcy/Lizzie dialogue of every reader who has screamed for more since being introduced to Pride and Prejudice in our youth. This is one of my favorite 2024 reads and I can’t wait to see what Tirzah does next. — Chantal, Millennial Reads
- “A truly delightful cozy mystery read.”— Annie, No Spice Reads
- “I’m a sucker for books based on classic literature, and it’s made extra fun here because the characters really bubble alive into their own individuals, inspired by but not beholden to the originals. That allows for the plot and mystery to be all the more playful, which is exactly what I’m here for.”— Megan Hawley Steinfeld, Goodreads
