Stunning New Covers Grace the Puffin in Bloom Jane Austen Collection, Designed by Anna Bond

From the desk of Laurel Ann Nattress:

While I own more copies of Jane Austen’s novels than I will publicly admit, there is just something so enchanting about a beautiful book cover. They totally break down my willpower. So, here I am with new editions of Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Sense and Sensibility to share with you. I blame the team at Puffin in Bloom and the incredibly talented illustrator Anna Bond for creating them.

What really caught my eye with these new covers was the unique and pleasing combination of colors and patterns. The designs are so different from any I already own. The spines will look so beautiful lined up on my bookshelves.

Puffin in Bloom is part of the Puffin Books series for young readers. Previously published titles in this series also with covers illustrated by Anna Bond included: A Little Princess, Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and Heidi. There will also be a boxed set of the three Jane Austen titles releasing on September 3, 2024, just in time for holiday gift-giving.

I hope you will be as weak as I was in resisting them!

Best, LA

BOOK DESCRIPTIONS

Pride and Prejudice

Though her sisters are keen on finding men to marry, Elizabeth Bennet would rather wait for someone she loves – certainly not someone like Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, whom she finds to be smug and judgmental, in contrast to the charming George Wickham. But soon Elizabeth learns that her first impressions may not have been correct, and the quiet, genteel Mr. Darcy might be her true love after all.

Emma

Sense and Sensibility

Marianne Dashwood wears her heart on her sleeve, and when she falls in love with the dashing but unsuitable John Willoughby, she ignores her sister Elinor’s warning that her impulsive behavior leaves her open to gossip and innuendo. Meanwhile Elinor, always sensitive to social convention, is struggling to conceal her own romantic disappointment, even from those closest to her. Through their parallel experience of love– and its threatened loss–the sisters learn that sense must mix with sensibility if they are to find personal happiness in a society where status and money govern the rules of love.

  1. Oh my goodness, these covers are just beautiful and luckily I haven’t purchased a copy of Sense and Sensibility yet! 😂 The Pride & Prejudice cover is just beautiful though and the little strawberry basket on the cover of Emma is lovely!
