CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

All’s Fair in Love and Christmas, by Sarah Monzon (Sept 5)

A workplace rivalry heats up when the competition sparks more than business for this couple during the Christmas season.

“Inspirational rom-com readers are going to love this one.”— Bethany Turner, bestselling author of The Do-Over

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Every December two things are guaranteed for graphic designer Mackenzie Graham–Christmas celebrations and the annual promotion at her workplace. Those two things are by no means mutually exclusive. In fact, the better an employee is at harnessing the Christmas spirit, the more likely they’ll win the new job. With her social anxiety, Mackenzie never thought she’d be a contender in her company’s holiday competition, so how exactly has she found herself dueling her workplace crush with wrapping paper tubes and using tinsel as her weapon of choice for a much-needed raise?

Jeremy Fletcher’s life is meticulously planned out, including how to win this year’s promotion at work. Not only will the new position fulfill some of his career goals, but as a single guardian to his twin niece and nephew, he needs the salary increase to support his family. Jeremy has barely noticed Mackenzie Graham around the office, but now that she’s his rival, he can’t stop thinking about her. Her quirkiness intrigues him, and he’s afraid that if he can’t get his head on straight, the promotion isn’t the only thing he’ll end up losing to Mackenzie.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Christmas comes early—far too early—to McCredie’s little Old Town bookshop in Edinburgh. It’s summer, but an American production company has decided that McCredie’s is the perfect location to film a very cheesy Christmas movie. After all, who can resist the charmingly narrow historic street with its Victorian grey stone buildings and warmly lit shop windows?

Carmen Hogan, the bookshop’s manager, is amused and a bit horrified by the goings-on, but the money the studio is paying is too good to pass up. She uses the little windfall from filming to create new displays and fend off a buyout offer from an obnoxious millionaire who wants to turn McCredie’s into a souvenir shop selling kilts made in China and plastic Nessies. Still reeling slightly from a breakup, Carmen’s not particularly looking forward to the holidays. But just as snow begins to fall and the lights of Christmas blink on, all sorts of lovely new possibilities present themselves…for McCredie’s bookstore, and for Carmen herself.

  1. This list of suggested reads is lovely; I am partial to mysteries and would contemplate the following titles: Murder on Mistletoe Lane: A Stella and Lyndy Mystery (Book 5), by Clara McKenna (Oct 24); Murder at Midnight: A Lily Adler Mystery (Book 4), by Katharine Schellman (Sept 19); otherwise, my plate is fullest with plenty books to read. Currently, I am trying to get through this Lydia Bennet, Witch by Melinda Taub, it is a very slow start and I hope to get through it with many positive claimants. Thank you for sharing and Happy Holidays!
