Return to Cornwall with Something Borrowed, by Rebecca Connolly

From the desk of Laurel Ann Nattress:

Today let’s talk about books set in Cornwall. There are so many of them—and for good reason. The picturesque coastal scenery, the fabled and mysterious history of the land and its people, and the romantic draw of a southern county in England far removed from the industry and glamour of big city life. Some of my favorite novels set in Cornwall include Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier, Ross Poldark, by Winston Graham, and The Shell Seekers, by Rosamunde Pilcher. Do you have favorites set in Cornwall as well?

Now you can add one more to your list. Something Borrowed, a new novel by bestselling historical romance and fiction author Rebecca Connolly. It is the third book in her Cornwall Brides series yet can be read as a standalone story. Check out the full book description from the publisher below.

In celebration of the release of Something Borrowed, Rebecca is offering a generous giveaway chance for a copy of the book and a $25.00 Amazon gift card to one lucky US resident. Please check out the contest and entry details below.

A mini break to Cornwall during the hectic holiday season is just the ticket for me. I hope you will give it a try as well.

Enjoy!

Best, LA

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Forsaking all others…

Gage Trembath is getting married. He is the only one who knows it, but the statement is true, nonetheless. The woman he had once loved has been married elsewhere for a time, and he can put off his own marriage no longer. The woman he has chosen to marry, without love, is sensible, quiet, musical, and amenable, which should enable him to have a good marriage and a content life. That is all he wants now, and Honora Berkeley makes the most sense.

Honora cannot believe that a handsome and wealthy man like Gage has any interest at all in marrying her, even without love. She certainly has very little to recommend her, but escaping her life of criticism and abandonment is something she cannot resist. But what about the woman Gage had once loved? The one who was perfect for him and the one who made him determined to abandon love? Are his feelings for her truly gone? Will Honora ever have his affection along with his respect?

Is a convenient, sensible marriage what Gage wants? Or will his capacity for love reignite under Honora’s influence?

  1. I’m not sure I’ve read many books set in Cornwall, but I love the BBC series Doc Martin set there :)
This one sounds intriguing – it may have to be my first official/knowing foray into Cornwall books!
