Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict author, Laurie Viera Rigler, is on one of her usual humorous jags, and has treated us to her Austen inspired political views of the 2008 presidential campaign. Here is excerpt from her lively speech that she gave recently to a group of Janeites at the Whittier Public Library in California.
one might be tempted to say that 2008 is turning out to be the year of Jane Austen, perhaps even more so than 2007. But let’s not forget that 2008 is also an election year. And with all the hoopla and fuss over should it be Obama, Clinton, or McCain, I submit that it should be Jane.
Well Laurie, we could not agree with you more. Read on, as Laurie reveals Jane’s political platform on her lovely, A Great deal of Conversation Blog, included on her Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict web site. Hey Laurie, will your heroine Courtney Stone be Jane’s campaign manager? And remember gentle readers to vote early, and vote often.
Don’t forget that Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict will be released in trade paperback on April 29th, just in time to slip it into your beach bag for warm weather outings, or inside reading for those of us who don’t see much sunshine through the pouring rain! You can pre-order it today online, or at your favorite local bookstore.
