‘Pride and Prejudice without Zombies’ Event Swag (Giveaways)

Silly me. Forgot to mention the good stuff. During the ‘Pride and Prejudice without Zombies’ event you can enter multiple chances to win swag. Lots of swag. Giveaways. Free stuff.

Laurel Ann has culled her Austen bookshelves and called in all her favors to assemble this list. Here goes.

Together for the first time, the complete and unabridged audio recordings of Jane Austen’s novels handsomely presented in a boxed set. Counting 69 CDs and running over 83 hours, this is the Holy Grail of Austen audio book recording as only Naxos could present with superb readings by Juliet Stevenson, Emilia Fox, and Anna Bentinck. Included are Austen’s six major novels, the novella Lady Susan and her unfinished novels Sanditon and The Watsons. This is definitely the essential collector’s item. Retail value $250.00!

  1. I would love to receive the audio box set. Should I win, but be found to dwell north of the border, I can still provide a US address. Will that do?

  2. My goodness, you are spoiling us, Laurel Ann!!! =) Sweet, sweet, sweet…

Can be even sweeter if you allow international shipping on the 1995 Remastered Miniseries DVD… Hint, hint, hint… ;-P

  3. What an impressive selection. I am tempted even though I have Austen DVDs, books and audios surrounding me at home, and an emergency copy of Emma in the car. Someone is going to be very lucky.

What a great giveaway! I’ve been meaning to pick up a copy of The Making of P & P for ages.

  5. Everything sounds great! I would love the replica of the peacock edition. I have a bag from the Jane Austen Centre in Bath with the peacock edition of P&P on it. I love it!

When I visited Jane Austen’s House a few years ago,I was lucky enough to snag a CD recording of Helena Bonham Carter reading excepts from several Austen novels(bridged by Regency era music pieces)and it’s one of the highpoint of my JA collection. HBC does a great Lady Catherine, btw:)

  11. If I won this box set, I wouldn’t have to win anything else for the rest of my life. Winning the box set would take the cake!

I’m so glad you are doing a group read fro P&P. I read it every year but this summer I’m planning to re-read all 6 novels plus the other works so this group read is an added pleasure!

  12. Count me in! I have an immensely deserving Austen-loving sister who would receive my winnings as a gift to help her survive med school rotations (but maybe only after a gentle read or listen by me first!)

  14. I’ve never heard an Austen audio-book. I can’t think of anything more fun than having that on while I’m on a trip or relaxing around the house.

  15. I listened to several Austen novels on audio a couple of years ago, and they were wonderful to listen to. These look even better because of the fabulous readers. Love, love, love Juliet Stevenson!

  16. Maybe my devotion to Jane Austen will bring me luck. The only thing I ever won was a shirt embossed with the logo of Radio Prague. I have all of Jane’s major novels, including “Sanditon.” But the only one I have on audio is “Emma” (abridged).

  18. What a treasury indeed!

What won the argument for Elizabeth Bennet was full consciousness of her equality — and perhaps superiority — to Lady Catherine. To have caved, groveled and otherwise been intimidated by Lady Catherine’s rank and bad manners would have been a betrayal of Elizabeth’s very being and selfhood. “It was not to be borne!” What fun!

  19. Oh, I love Jane Austen books and would very much like to own a set like this. I have listened to one Naxos audio book and it had a very good reader.

  20. I have never had an audio book except for children’s books and that was records with the books (like the fox and the hound) for my kids. Wow! That sounds like quite a catch. Does the reader do a good job? You never know if they have a high voice, monotone voice or whatever. I’m sure it’s superb. Please enter me too. I didn’t think I responded already, but there may be another Sue on here.
