I got to see this in person last weekend and it is awe inspiring to see our beloved Jane’s handwriting in person. I also really liked the way they placed her life in context featuring other items of interest from the period. A full write up of my experience will be on my blog some time soon.

I just attended the exhibit today, and I LOVED it! It’s a small room, but it really packs a punch. To see so many letters written in Jane’s hand, part of the original manuscript for “Lady Susan”…it’s just an incredible experience that I never thought I’d have. I also loved how they placed Jane and her novels in the context of her times, exhibited right alongside her contemporaries and the works of authors that she herself read. The exhibit was well done, engaging, and a real treat for Janeites.

Thanks for the heads up on this great exhibit Laurel Ann! For someone who lives thousands of miles from NYC, I’m afraid this would only remain as a dream for me. Anything like that happening in the west coast? From now till next March… maybe I should make some travel plans. Again, thanks for all the details here and on your other post.

I first read about this exhibition on your blog months ago and immediately booked myself a flight to travel the 3,000 miles from California just to see this. I’m going this month, and I couldn’t be more excited!
